Avis du Broker

Broker's Comments
The name of this boat should be something like FUNONTHEWATER . It has everything anyone could ever ask for in order to enjoy being in, on or under the water. It is not one of the new fancy Mega-yachts that would cost $40,000,000 to $60,000,000 to build and a zillion dollars a year to maintain. This is a practical, down to water, tough and able sea boat with a huge amount of room, great range, terrific equipment and up to date systems. This is the third Owner since she was first converted from a Canadian Buoy Tender about fifteen years ago. He has loaded the boat with great toys, maintained the boat in every corner and upgraded her constantly. The previous Owner had added the stabilizers, the fantastic sewer system, the marble floors in the halls, and the granite counter tops in the Galley. He did many other things to turn the BEAUPORT into a fun platform, which can cruise the world. There is no other vessel anywhere that has everything this ship has at remotely the same price. Where can you find a ship that is helicopter friendly, carries its own sportfisherman, plus a small boat for water skiing, going ashore, running to the beach and more? The BEAUPORT is a fabulous boat for a family to explore the Oceans, to enjoy irreplaceable vacations and make memories that cannot be duplicated. You can get fancy for the same money, but not the size, not the toy carrying ability, and certainly not the character. What a BUY!

History
The Beauport is now an exceptional Expedition ship after 15 years of constant upgrading to convert her from a Canadian Buoy Tender. Literally millions & millions of dollars have been invested to make her what she is today. The first Owner took off the huge deck winches used for handling buoys, altered the interior layout to provide pleasant areas for private use and made a multitude of changes to suit his purposes. Under his ownership, she cruised from Canada to Florida, up the Great Lakes, down to the Caribbean and back to both coasts of Florida. The second Owner made the biggest changes, adding stabilizers, a bow thruster, and excellent state-of-the-art sewer system, all new through hull fittings, painting the exterior and interior, replacing the big crane and on the foredeck, upgrading the galley with granite counter tops and a lot of stainless steel, marble floors in the hallways, plus going through and upgrading virtually every system on board, re-working the crew area, the Salon, Dining Room, and Staterooms and much, much more, including making the upper aft deck into a helipad. The third and present Owner has also spent major dollars on electronics, furnishings, a new knuckle crane, and all kinds of toys, improving the plumbing, adding a Sauna Room, a Message Room, a Weight Room, improving the crew's quarters and re-arranging the Salon and Crew's Lounge. His cruises took Beauport up and down the California Coast to Mexico, around the Caribbean, back to Florida, and now to Carteguena, Columbia.

Accommodations
There are 10 double Guest Staterooms plus the Master Stateroom, plus the separate en-suite Captain's Cabin, plus Crew's Quarters for 8 to 10 people. (One Crew Cabin is set up for women with its private head & shower. The males share a very large head with two heads and showers.) Starting forward on the Main Deck, there is a huge foredeck with a fully extended 15,000 lb capacity. To port is the 29' Blackfin Sportfish, to starboard is the 22' Boston Whaler, both on cradles. (They will be described later.) The heavy windlass is forward. Amidships is the scuttle leading down to the Crew's Quarters. All the way aft under the front of the main superstructure is a big area for alfresco dining. Entering the interior via a centerline door, there is a Hall leading aft, past the formal Dining Room to starboard and the Crew's Play Room to port. Further aft in the Hall is a door to the Galley; also in this hall is the door to the FIDLY, which allows access to the stairs down to the Engine Room. At the end of the Hall is a big locker. Turning to another Hall that runs across the vessel is the door to the Salon (which is on the portside of the ship) and aft to 4 Guest Staterooms and heads. This is also where another stairwell leads down to 6 more Guest Staterooms and more heads. There are doors port and starboard leading to the side decks. The Salon is along the portside of the vessel with a built-in library all the way forward, followed by a large game table with 6 chairs. Next aft, past a divider that holds a beautiful ship's model, is the sitting area with a couch, coffee table and occasional chairs. The TV and stereo equipment are located in a cabinet at the far aft end. The formal Dining Room is a lovely graceful pleasant spot that conveys a sense of truly fine dining. There is a wine rack and a huge table with 10 chairs, imparting a relaxed ambiance. All the way aft on the Main Deck is the Aft Deck, which has a huge warping windlass in the center of it. There is also a ladder going up to the upper Aft Deck (to the Helipad area,) which is where most of the toys are kept.

Galley
To starboard on the main deck the large Commercial-grade galley, which was renovated in 2001, including marble sole, stainless steel countertops, and large square windows added for ample natural light. There are two fire door entrances and three opening ports. Aft is a large walk-in refrigerator and a freezer. Outboard is a long stainless steel counter with two large, deep sinks. In the counter there is an electric fryer, commercial dishwasher, and trash compactor. Forward is a Hoshitaki commercial icemaker. The stove is a large stainless steel commercial electric cooker and oven by Moffat; in addition there is a GE electric oven.

Guest Accommodations
There are four Guest Cabins at the aft end of the main deck. The two aftermost offer single bunks, desks, basins, and lounge areas, with opening window. The two forward cabins each offer a double bunk, small desk with chair, and opening window. In the adjacent companionway are two shared Guest Heads with Vacu-Flush toilets and stall showers.

Below decks aft arefive Guest Cabins, two of which are doubles and three singles - note that the singles could easily be converted into doubles. The double stateroom forward to starboard offers its own en-suite guest head with shower. The remaining staterooms each offer their own washbasin, and there are two guest heads with showers on this level.

The next deck up via the stairwell off the lower Hall has the Master Stateroom forward, overlooking the foredeck. This room is the full width of the ship (not including the walk-around side decks). The king-sized bed is in the center with a large closet behind the headboard. All the way to starboard is a Jacuzzi tub. In the starboard, forward corner is a built-in desk and a dresser. A TV hangs on the wall in front of the bed.

Aft of the Master is an Athwartship Hall, leading to the very generous Captain's Cabin, which has its own adjoining head and shower. The double berth is along the aft bulkhead. The wall to starboard has a large desk. There is ample storage and locker space.

Bridge Deck
The Bridge Deck has wing stations port and starboard, with air controls, shaft speed indicators, and bow thruster controls. Forward, port and starboard, are large quartz deck lights to illuminate the foredeck.

Forward is a staircase down to the foredeck. Mounted port and starboard are 20-man canister life rafts. Mounted amidships, one each port and starboard, are two knuckle cranes, rated at 6 tons. Behind the port crane is a mounted 16' Yamaha Jet Boat. The starboard crane has been modified for SOLAS with a gasoline powered hydraulic power pack for launching a rescue boat without any ships power (see SOLAS certificate). The port crane has boom extensions to enable it to reach over a hatch aft of the stack.

Wheelhouse
The Wheelhouse is at the bridge deck level, with opening doors port and starboard to the wing stations and commanding visibility. Teak and holly sole; four drop windows; two new Marine-Air conditioning units; clear-view screen; plus windshield wipers on two of the forward panels; large pedestal compass; bench seat and chart table aft. The original steering is a classic wooden ship's wheel on a Hyland hydraulic steering motor.

To port of the wheel is a new L-shaped navigation center, built to accommodate the autopilot, new 72-mile radar and PC navigation system with 17 monitor running Nobeltec moving map software with a complete set of CD-Rom charts. To starboard of the wheel are the Westinghouse air controls for the main engines along with shaft RPM indicators. Outboard, to starboard, is a ship's telegraph, which can be used in an emergency to signal orders to the engine room.

A door, aft to starboard, opens to the sky lounge, another most pleasant place on the ship to relax, read, watch TV, or have a pleasant visit with shipmates. An L-shaped lounge is in the forward port area. There is a very comfortable oversized stuffed chair and two teak tables made from some of original gratings that were part of the original boat. An Oriental carpet adds color to the room and the teak & holly varnished floor adds to its elegance. There is a stairwell in the port aft corner going down to the Guest Staterooms and a door that opens aft and an outside sitting area that is open on three sides and looks down on the upper aft deck. This is another spot that offers a terrific view, fresh air, and a very relaxing feeling. Another set of stairs leads down to the Upper Aft Deck.

Fly Bridge
The Flybridge is over the wheelhouse and accessed via stairs from the open deck aft of the Sky Lounge. There is a helm station with hydraulic steering pedestal and a Sperry gyro repeater. To starboard is a control console with the engine air controls and shaft speed indicators. Around the outer perimeter of the flybridge are the radar, radio satellite TV and phone antennas. A Jacuzzi tub is also mounted on this deck.

Lower Aft Deck
The Lower Aft Deck has an electric capstan, side decks to the doors leading to the Guest Quarters area; a watertight hatch leads down to the steering compartment, and a stairwell up to the Upper Aft Deck.

Main Deck Forward
Center of the deck forward is the hatch to the forepeak area. In the center of the foredeck is a hydraulic low-profile crane (new, 2000) for launching the 29' Blackfin. The crane's rating is 16,000# at 28' and is also used to lower cargo through the large foredeck hatch into the 640 sq. ft., cargo hold. Port and starboard are two vertical windlasses, each with capstan and gypsy; each hauls 1 - 3/8 stud link chain. In the hawse pipes are two stockless anchors with a third spare carried onboard. Aft of the crane is the passage down to the forward crew quarters; aft of that is the hatch to the cargo hold.

Upper Aft Deck
The Upper Aft Deck is huge; on the same level as the Master Stateroom. Big enough for two knuckle cranes, port and starboard, and a wide assortment of toys, including a 16' Hobie Sailing Catamaran. Aft of this is the helipad, large enough to accept a Jet Ranger. At the forward end of this deck, on centerline, is a large hatch. Any piece of equipment in the engine room can be brought up through this hatch.

Mechanical and Engines
The Engine Room measures approximately 34' x 72', laid out so that one can walk up to, or around, every piece of equipment. Access is from a door in the Fiddley off the hall past the Galley. The ladder down to the Engine Room floor has 17 steps.

Inside this Fiddley there is a water heater, a 500-gallon fuel oil day tank, and the main engine expansion tanks. The Fiddley also servers as the exhaust trunk with dry exhausts exiting out the top of the stack; there are also two main ventilation trunks running up the Fiddley to the stack. Beginning from the starboard forward corner in the engine room, the following equipment is housed: small grey water discharge pump; new Caspian 1800-GPD Watermaker with a back flushable sand and gravel pre-filter to significantly reduce cartridge filter use; Hamworthy 80-hp DC motor to Fire/Bilge pump - note that this fire / bilge pump cross connects with an identical pump on the portside of the engine room and both pumps are capable of either fire service, bilge pumping, or backup main engine and generator raw water cooling.

Aft inboard is a backup DC raw water pump for either or both main engines. Aft is the starboard lube oil filters and strainers; aft of that is the NEW Alpha Laval MAB103 Lube Oil Centrifuge for clarifying either the main or genset lube oil. Aft is mounted the Starboard Stabilizer Fin; above the fin is a compressor for the galley fridge and freezer walk-ins. Outboard is a Lube Oil Heater System to preheat engine lube oil, above on the aft wall to starboard is a 500-gallon lube oil storage tank. Next aft is the 25-hp Hydraulic power unit for the stabilizers. Behind on the aft wall is a 300-gallon waste oil storage tank.

Center is mounted one of the two new 5-hp oil cooled air compressors; outboard to port is the aft area grey water holding tank and discharge pump; also to port is installed the new 5-hp raw water pumping system to supply cooling water to all air conditioners, the walk-in fridge and freezer units, shaft cooling, bow thruster and stabilizer hydraulic heat exchanger units. Up high on the port aft engine room wall are (2) large air tanks. In the center of the back wall are (2) new electric water heaters. Outboard on the port wall is a 200-gallon reduction gear oil storage tank; below is the port stabilizer fin. Forward is the freshwater pressure pump, filters and pressure tank installation. Next to the freshwater system is installed the second 5-hp oil cooled air compressor. Forward is the bilge oil/water separator, installed to meet the latest IOPP regulations

Forward are mounted the port main engine lube oil strainers and filters; next forward is an emergency, diesel powered, air compressor; inboard is the DC backup fresh water circulating pump for both main engines; forward is the second 80-hp bilge/fire pump; outboard is a lube oil pre-heater f

Electrical
The vessel has four main electrical systems. The 3-phase 208vAC system for the majority of appliances and lighting; the 230vDC for much of the original ship's equipment and a 12vDC system for the wheelhouse electronics and alarm system. There are three diesel generator plants on board. Two are original Allis Chalmers/Buda diesel engines directly mated to 175kW 230vDC Compton Parkinson DC generators. Both of these generating plants were completely disassembled and overhauled during the recent refit in Jacksonville. The remaining generator is a new Isuzu 150kW power plant installed during the recent refit. The Isuzu has a hydraulic pump to power the 150 hp bow thruster. In the engine room forward, is the main electrical switching gear. The portside of the panel contains the original controls and indicators for the 230vDC electrical system. One portion of the panel contains the original controls and indicators for the 230vDC electrical system. One portion of the panel has been modified with a dual AC to DC rectifier system to enable the Isuzu or shore power to provide all the necessary 230vDC electrical power. Mounted on the opposite side of this panel are the new AC distribution and generator control breaker panels. All of the AC wiring and panels were replaced with new components and armored cable. New shore power connection for 460vAC was installed along with transformer and phase protection equipment. In the wheelhouse is a 12vDC battery and charger system which powers the wheelhouse electronics as well as the engine and bilge alarm systems.
